Our Ford truck after 200k miles started to have engine problems. We decided to get another engine to replace the tired 7.3 PowerStroke.
We are going with a 70k mile 12Valve Cummins with a AFC Live controller. We are using the Diesel Conversion Specialists adapter kit to mate the Cummins to the Ford 4R100 Transmission.
Pulling the Ford engine was very time consuming due to the placement of the turbo and the cab on top of the motor.
With the help of the Diesel Conversion Specialists adapter kit the motor fit perfectly into place with minor issues getting the motor over the lower crossmember.
We pushed the motor transmission and ddrive shaft back enough to be able to have clearence for the Cummins mechanical fam without having to modify the length of the driveshafts.
We had to trim the Dodge fan shroud to fit the ford radiator and work with our dodge mechanical fan.
We made custom intercooler piping off the Dodge and Ford existing pipes while still using the stock 7.3 Ford intercooler.
Once everything was fitted the truck went together easily. We tuned the transmission and the swap was complete.
